Group Fitness

WIRAC provides over 25 group fitness and aqua classes per week.

Pilate’s aims to strengthen the “core” (i.e. abdominal muscles, lower back, hips and buttocks) improves physical co-ordination and balance.

BODYPUMP™ is a barbell workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast.

Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout that can burn up to 540 calories per class. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music – helping you achieve much more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.

Classes are designed for adults 60 and over who like to maintain an active lifestyle and are looking for a fun, social experience as well as a good workout. The focus is on games and other fun physical activities designed to increase fitness, coordination and balance. This class is all about experiencing the joy of movement through games and sport.

A class designed for people 50 and over looking to stay active and mobile with gentle exercises in a welcoming social environment. The class combines aerobic and resistance training to help maintain overall fitness while having a great time with upbeat music and good company.

Relax and unwind with 60 minutes of mindfulness, gentle stretching and exercise. A fusion of several different Yoga styles to centre your mind and body, suitable for new comers and experienced yogis.

Aqua Drums Vibes
A unique aqua fitness program that combines drum rhythms, lots of fun and a totally new approach to water training. Play drums in the water! Every move you make will be even more effective! Limited to 20 people per class. First in, best dressed.

Circuit Rx
A 30 min high intensity circuit style workout utilising the latest in High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) techniques to get the results you want fast. Using functional movements and some resistance equipment Circuit Rx is fat burning, fitness building class that will challenge your entire body.

Core Blast
A class designed to focus on your body's foundation - your core. Create stability, mobility, strength and power in the core muscles and move like never before in just 30 minutes.

An indoor cycling class that offers a moderate to high intensity workout over 45 minutes. Interval based training takes you through sprints, hills and mountains to help improve cardiovascular and muscular endurance.

Suitable for all ages and fitness levels with classes designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance and strength through water based exercise.

A high energy water based workout providing a fun way to increase muscular strength and endurance with great results.

Held in our Hydrotherapy Pool, this class aims to improve general fitness and wellbeing. This class is ideal for anyone new to Aqua Aerobics, PrYme Movers members or someone recovering from injury.

What’s Happening at WIRAC over April 2019

April is that month of the year where we get to feel that Winter is Coming whilst still enjoy the odd and occasional warm day. It will be interesting to see what the month brings.

Term 1 finishes on Fri 5 April and unfortunately WIRAC will not be hosting any school holiday activities as we just don’t seem to get the numbers at this time of the year. However we are offering a FREE Teen Gym & Swim program for Years 10-12 weekdays from 9-3pm so come in and chat to us if that might work for your teenagers!

The Easter Break is on from Friday 19 April to Monday 22 April and the Centre is closed for the Friday, Saturday & Sunday are normal hours whilst the Monday is on public holiday hours (Autumn/Winter means 9-1pm). The exception is Anzac Day which takes place on Thursday 25 April and WIRAC will be open from 12-4pm.

With the start of Term 2 on Tue 23 April, the Centre will move to some modified pool hours on Tue/Wed/Thu where it will be closed from 12noon-3pm. This is due to the low numbers the Centre gets at this time over Autumn and Winter so please plan your swims around these changes.

We will also be closing the Centre and the Pool at 7pm weeknights (Fridays at 6pm), so we have made some minor changes to the length of group fitness classes over this time to minimize the inconvenience. Based on customer feedback we have added a new Yoga class with Ellie on Monday’s so make sure you come along and support it. Like any business, if our programs and services are not being utilized and supported by our members and users, we have no option but to reconsider that program or service.

Our new special program for youth aged 16-25 commences on the week of the 23 April. Called MYnd Pump, it is a unique YMCA program to help those with stress, anxiety or low moods and is based around physical activity. For more information go here. Our Heat Pump Project is moving along nicely and by April our new Pool Heat Pumps will be working for both the Hydro area and the Main Pools. The air handling works for these areas will still be a month or two away from completion. The gym heating and air conditioning work should also be completed early in April.

PS: Our March offer for new members is a 7 month membership (All-in-one), Gym or Aquatic and this has been so popular during the month, that we will extend this offer until Sunday 14 April.

The Hydrotherapy Pool is not open over weekends.

Due to major biannual pool maintenance, the main pools will be closed for one week from Monday 1 July to Sun 7 July inclusive. The Hydrotherapy Pool will remain open over this time.
