WIRAC Building Update
Apology to our members and users
We do apologize to our members and users for the delay in getting the replacement of the air-conditioning in the gym over the last four weeks, as well as finalizing the completion of the reopening of the hydrotherapy pool.
Initially we were informed by our local contractors that this project would take no more than three weeks as all of this was directly linked to the reinstatement of the new plant room for the hydrotherapy pool. This pool was closed on the 14 Jan to allow works to commence.
Our air conditioning contractor went to great lengths to ensure the gym would still be comfortable for users over this maintenance period and installed a reconditioned evaporative cooler which was plumbed in to some cooled water over this time.
Due to our hydrotherapy pool contractors falling behind for almost 3 weeks, our air conditioning work also fell behind. In addition, the reconditioned evaporative cooler did not cope with the ongoing running of the unit and became less effective as we would have liked and also caused some water runoff onto the carpets in the gym.
The good news is that the hydrotherapy pool was reopened on Mon 11 Feb which has allowed our air conditioning contractor to confirm that all being well, the new gym air conditioning should be fully functioning by Monday 18 Feb.
On Wednesday 13 Feb, a crane has been booked to remove the old units from the roof of WIRAC and the new air conditioning unit will be placed into the roof of the centre. The contractor will then commence the significant work to re-establish functional air conditioning into the Centre.
As a footnote, the gym carpet will be replaced on Friday 1 March and unfortunately for this to be done in one day, the gym will be closed from 5am-5pm on this day.
We do apologize unreservedly for the inconvenience that this work has created for our members and users. We were working on this work being completed within a 3 week period but were wrong on this front. We realize that there has been some discomfort as well and we are working hard to bring a better, more efficient and modern facility for your enjoyment. We do believe we are over the worst of this inconvenience and will keep you informed should anything change.
