WIRAC provides over 25 group fitness and aqua classes per week.

PILATES
Pilate’s aims to strengthen the “core” (i.e. abdominal muscles, lower back, hips and buttocks) improves physical co-ordination and balance.

Les Mills BODYPUMP™
BODYPUMP™ is a barbell workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast.

Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout that can burn up to 540 calories per class. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music – helping you achieve much more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.

PRYME ACTIVE (STADIUM)
Classes are designed for adults 60 and over who like to maintain an active lifestyle and are looking for a fun, social experience as well as a good workout. The focus is on games and other fun physical activities designed to increase fitness, coordination and balance. This class is all about experiencing the joy of movement through games and sport.

PRYME EASY
A class designed for people 50 and over looking to stay active and mobile with gentle exercises in a welcoming social environment. The class combines aerobic and resistance training to help maintain overall fitness while having a great time with upbeat music and good company.

Yoga
Relax and unwind with 60 minutes of mindfulness, gentle stretching and exercise. A fusion of several different Yoga styles to centre your mind and body, suitable for new comers and experienced yogis.

Aqua Drums Vibes
A unique aqua fitness program that combines drum rhythms, lots of fun and a totally new approach to water training. Play drums in the water! Every move you make will be even more effective! Limited to 20 people per class. First in, best dressed.

Circuit Rx
A 30 min high intensity circuit style workout utilising the latest in High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) techniques to get the results you want fast. Using functional movements and some resistance equipment Circuit Rx is fat burning, fitness building class that will challenge your entire body.

Core Blast
A class designed to focus on your body's foundation - your core. Create stability, mobility, strength and power in the core muscles and move like never before in just 30 minutes.

SPIN
An indoor cycling class that offers a moderate to high intensity workout over 45 minutes. Interval based training takes you through sprints, hills and mountains to help improve cardiovascular and muscular endurance.

AQUA BASIC
Suitable for all ages and fitness levels with classes designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance and strength through water based exercise.

AQUA FIT
A high energy water based workout providing a fun way to increase muscular strength and endurance with great results.

PRYME AQUA
Held in our Hydrotherapy Pool, this class aims to improve general fitness and wellbeing. This class is ideal for anyone new to Aqua Aerobics, PrYme Movers members or someone recovering from injury.

What’s Happening at WIRAC over Spring & Summer 2019

So Winter draws to a close and Spring is upon us. With the warmer months comes the busy season for the Centre and we do appreciate our members and users patience as we conclude not just our massive renovation project (the Heat Pump Project) but also the reduced hours over the cooler months.

We will be moving back to longer hours of operation during September and October and these hours are listed alongside this text on the web page. We have some new programs and services starting and these are listed below. Please check in with reception at the Centre for further details about these listed activities


September Activities

  • 13 September - FREE Aquatic Participation Day as part of Disability Action Week
  • 13 September - FREE Squad Clinic with former Australian Swimmer Jade Edmistone
  • 12 & 19 Sep - FREE come and try days with Warwick Swim Club
  • 20 September - Term 3 ends
  • 23 September - School Holidays commence with a wide range of activities and some of these include Learn to swim Intensives, SQUAD clinics, Rockwall & Swim Days, and the launch of our new Active Youth Program which officially commences in the new school term.

In addition the pool will re-open on Sundays from 10-2pm for the Sunday of the 29th Sep and Sunday 6 Oct. From then on, our Sunday hours will be 10-5pm up to mid-December.


October Activities

  • 7 October - Public Holiday, WIRAC will be open 9-4pm
  • 8 October - Term 4 commences

October will see extended hours of operation for the Centre including Saturdays and Sundays. Extra group fitness classes will resume with the later hours of operation and we will also introduce 1-2 functional fitness classes and the 6 week Summer Shred Program.

The new Active Youth Program will commence as well with sessions for Active Kids (8-11yrs) and Active Teens (12-16yrs).

We are also holding a special Big Q Basketball tournament on the weekend of the 19/20 October.


November Activities

WIRAC celebrates its 5th birthday in November (it is 5 years since YMCA Brisbane were engaged to manage the Centre for the SDRC) and we will have a special birthday carnival over the weekend of the 9th & 10th of November. There will be a range of activities which will include:
Rockwall/Disco on Fri 8 Nov. Over the weekend, pool fee’s will be half price and we will conduct the Macca’s Mini Meet, and introduce Masters swimming as well as the new Aqua Duck program. The pool inflatable will be up on Saturday and Sunday at specified times.


December Activities

Additional events will be listed in coming months. And there will be some modifications to operating hours.

The Centre hours for September leading up to the school holidays are as follows:

Centre:
Monday to Thursday - 6:30am to 7:00pm
Friday - 6:30am to 6:00pm
Saturday - 7:00am to 3:00pm
Sunday - closed (will open on Sundays from 29th Sep-10-2pm on 29/9 & 6/10)

Main Pool:
Monday to Thursday - 6:30am to 7:00pm
Friday - 6:30am to 6:00pm
Midweek Tue to Thu – Main Pools are closed from 12noon to 3pm
Saturday - 7:00am to 3:00pm
Sunday - closed (will open on Sundays from 29th Sep-10-2pm on 29/9 & 6/10)

When school holidays commence as of Mon 23rd September, the Centre will resume opening hours during the day eg Tue/Wed/Thu.

Note Monday 7th October is a Public Holiday. WIRAC will be open from 9-4pm on this day.

Please note that there will be modified hours over Xmas 2019 and January 2020.
